Why fixed pricing matters to us.
We publish real numbers, not a "call for a quote" teaser. Standard trade paint and labour are included in every quoted price, with no inflated call-out fees or hidden extras. If a job comes in more than our published prices suggest - which happens more often on Herne Bay's older seafront properties than it would inland - we tell you why before we start, not after.
Small outfit, not a franchise.
Herne Bay Painter is a small decorating outfit focused entirely on domestic work. No subcontracted crews you've never met - the person who visits to quote the job is the person doing the work.

Herne Bay's Victorian seafront and the streets behind it sit close enough to the sea that salt-laden air is a real factor indoors, not just out - it finds damp behind old wallpaper faster, and it's harder on original sash window joinery than anything you'd see further inland. Older plaster needs to breathe; sealing it behind a modern emulsion traps damp rather than solving it. We choose the paint system for the wall in front of us, not the same one for every job.
How we quote.
Photos of the room over WhatsApp or email are usually enough for a firm price against our published prices. On period properties or larger jobs we come out for a look before quoting. Quotes are fixed price - if we find something unexpected once we start (damp behind old wallpaper, movement cracks that need proper filling), we flag it, price it separately, and agree it with you before continuing.
